Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor: report of three cases with immunohistochemical study

چکیده
Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a rare benign odontogenic tumor. Here we report 3 cases of CEOT. All patients were women and the age of the patients ranged from 39-48 years. All cases were located in the maxilla. Histologically, one case was epithelial-predominant and consisted of large irregular cribriform sheets of polygonal epithelial cells, dense eosinophilic amyloid-like globules, and frequent concentric calcifications. The other two cases were amyloid-rich and consisted of scattered small nests of polygonal epithelial cells, abundant stroma with amyloid-like globules, and lacked calcifications. Immunohistochemically, tumor cells in all cases were diffusely strongly positive for AE1/AE3, cytokeratin (CK)5, Cam5.2, CK19, 34βE12, and p63. Tumor cells in two cases were positive for CK7 and in one case, they were positive for CD10. Vimentin was strongly positive in one case, whereas weakly positive in two cases. A variable number of CD1a-positive Langerhans cells were observed among nests of tumor cells in all cases. In summary, CEOT exhibits distinct but various histological and immunohistochemical features.

Aggressive calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor masquerading as maxillary sinus tumor: a case report.
Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is a rare odontogenic neoplasm. Its occurrence in the maxillary sinus is very rare. Maxillary tumors tend to be locally aggressive and may rapidly involve the surrounding vital structures. We report a case of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor involving maxillary sinus in a 48 years old female patient with the oral mucosal involvement. The purpose o...
متن کاملCalcifying epithelial odontogenic (Pindborg) tumor involving a 16-year-old girl with no prominent clinical manifestation: A case report
BACKGROUND AND AIM: The calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a rare entity described by Pindborg and represents < 1% of all odontogenic tumors. Nearly 200 cases of this neoplasm have been reported to date. It mostly occurs in the posterior mandible associated with an impacted tooth, most often a mandibular molar. Patients are usually between 30 and 50 years of age, with no sex pred...

Peripheral calcifying cystic odontogenic tumor (PCCOT) is a rare odontogenic lesion, which represents about 1% of jaw cysts. Here we report clinicopathologic, radiographic and CT scan images of a new case of recurrent large PCCOT located in mandibular gingiva in a 77-year-old male with history of a nodular mass in the same area, which had been completely excised 3 years ago. In reviewing the...

The calcifying odontogenic cyst (COC) is a rare odontogenic cyst. Only 2% of all odontogenic cysts and tumors are COC. COC associated with odontoma (COCaO) reported in 24% of COCs. COCaO presents a greater incidence in female, with a ratio of 2 to 1. The highest incidence of COCaO occurs during the second decade with a mean age of 16 years, most frequently occurring in the maxilla (61.5%). Here...
